The Last Time

For every parent there comes a day when you are holding your child and you put them down, but you don't realize at the time that that was the last time you would ever pick them up.
That, for the most part, is how all your life goes. There is importance to many milestones that is lost in the moment because of the rush of events coming at you, and the hurricane of thoughts about trying to keep up with and prepare for every new thing you are about to face.
You get busy, and it all just flies past you.
It's only in retrospect that we look back and realize how important those moments were. Wouldn't it be great if we could know the true importance of a moment while we are still in that moment, in order to give it the attention it deserves?
Hopefully, as we get older, we get a little smarter about recognizing when those moments are coming and try to prepare to take a mental picture of it as it passes.
